The “Show” – Springdell Winter CSA Pickup #1

Hi everyone, Jess here, and I’ve missed you! Hoping you are weathering all that is New England with a happy heart today. I certainly am, particularly as it’s time for the first bounty of the winter season!

For those of you new to the Winter CSA, let me give you a quick rundown of the “Springdell Show and Tell” and how this blog works- Each pickup, I’ll “Show” you what you may see in your share box (contents may vary slightly). You can click on the items on the “Show” list to see a brief description of each item, along with a list of tested recipes to try for each item. At the end of each pickup cycle, I’ll “Tell” you how I enjoyed the produce in my household. Keep in mind I’m by no means a master chef, just a busy mom with a burning desire to cook, etc and share local, sustainable and responsible food.

If you have an adaptation or winning recipe to share, please do, as it helps make this site more helpful for everyone! Please feel free to check in with questions or comments any time!

It never ceases to amaze me how well we can be fed locally despite the zany weather conditions. I don’t know how Farmer Jamie, her crew, or the other local farmers do it. All I can say is that I’m most grateful that they do.

Remember to stop by the farm stand to participate in the Harvest For All food and clothing drive! Fresh and canned food are welcome, along with warm and gently used clothing, personal care products, and baby items. You can stop by and drop off donations tomorrow as well. The items will be sorted and delivered on Monday. Many thanks for your participation!

Also, Danny from Jordan Brothers Seafood is in Town from 9am-1pm on Saturdays throughout the winter!

Do be sure to click on this cranberry link for ideas and recipes for your cranberries! You can also check out this link provided by fellow Springdellian Dawn DeMeo.  Thanks, Dawn!

I look forward to seeing you back here before the next pickup for the “Tell”. If you can’t wait that long, feel free to check out the Facebook page for the more regular updates. Meanwhile, sweet and savory dreams to you!
