The “Tell” – Springdell Summer CSA Pickup #1

Hello all! Welcome to the end of week 1! Hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather, and of course the beautiful goodies in your CSA boxes! Just wanted to give a quick heads up, the website is acting a little wonky at the moment (particularly Veggiescope). I am aware of the issue and actively working on fixing it! I’ll keep you posted when it’s back up and running at full speed. Meanwhile, if you’re stuck on a particular veggie in the CSA box, please click on one of the veggie links below for the description, or just drop me a line and I’ll help you in any way I can!

Let’s see how these goodies were enjoyed this week!

For the Kale curious, Kale Caesar Salad is always a nice go-to when you have bunches of kale. Originally introduced to me in 2016 by Fellow Springdellian Christine N., it has been a go-to that my family still enjoys today.
Thanks to Fellow Springdellian Calli Q. for giving me the jumping off point this week when I was dreaming of a strawberry and pork combo, maybe with a balsamic? Here’s the recipe that inspired an interesting flavor combination!
A few of of my berries and lots of my kale went into my daily smoothie this week. There’s a blue tinge as I also found a bag of blueberries in the chest freezer that needed some love.
The sweet garlic scapes in this stir fry are so yummy. My kids were convinced the scapes were flavorful green beans for a while. Now that they know the truth, they don’t mind. If tofu isn’t your thing, this stir-fry sauce works with just about any protein of your choice.
This is how I enjoyed rhubarb in my childhood, raw peeled tangy and sour stalks with a little dippy cup of sugar on the side. Not much has changed, although now I prefer Ben’s Maple Sugar to the white stuff. Nature’s Lik-M-Aid…
Fellow Springdellian Mandy C. took advantage of the rainy start of summer vacation and baked this Strawberry Summer Cake delight! Thanks for sharing, Mandy! (Also, check out the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble!)
Fellow Springdellian Sharon M made this Strawberry Meringue Torte using this recipe, with a couple of adaptations including whipped cream and sweetened berries in place of the pastry cream. Thanks for sharing, Sharon, it looks divine!.

Ready for round 2? I look forward to seeing you back here shortly for the next installment of the Springdell Show and Tell!
