The Springdell Show and Tell – Winter CSA Group B Pickup #3

Hi everyone, Jess here to explore the deliciousness of the 3rd pickup of the Winter CSA. The jet lag from Okinawa is starting to lessen, and I’m happy to return to a delicious crate of local goodies!

Please note that the content of share boxes will vary. For example, you may receive a different variety of veggies or meats that what is posted here, this is especially true in the winter when there are limited supplies of each item. You might get a different squash or variety of potatoes. Please know and trust that though the contents may vary, the value of each box does not. Farmer Jamie keeps a close eye on this, and you are in good hands!

I thought I’d share of an annual cookie swap that I went to the other day. I met a Springdell Summer CSA shareholder and blog reader there, which was pretty cool!
The many cookies at the swap were beautiful and delicious!
I love my friend Karen’s sugared cranberries. Karen herself is a CSA addict, and several of her delicious recipes have graced this page over the years.
I got lucky and won two of the categories at the cookie swap, one was the correct guess as to how many total sticks of butter were in all the cookies (27), the second was for the most original cookie (a rough attempt at an Okinawan “Chinsuko” cookie). The two utensils made great salad tongs for Sunday Dinner!
After a couple of weeks of having miso soup for breakfast in Okinawa, I found myself craving it when I returned home. I used instant Hondashi and red miso paste. My kids love miso soup, but without the “green stuff” in the soup. Hence, on the side, I had a full plate of Johnny Putt greens, and we all picked and chose what to throw in our soups.
