Recipe Types: Condiments

Tomato Jam

This one I tried by Marisa from Food In Jars. Tomato jam has a sweet and tangy taste with the mouthfeel of a marmalade. This particular recipe takes a little longer than others, but no pectin is involved. It’s a welcome notch up from ketchup and great with just about anything. Try it with goat cheese toasts or grilled cheese sandwiches!

Garlic Scape Pesto

A simple and delicious use for your garlic scapes! Mix your pesto in some greek yogurt or sour cream for a great dip, serve it over pasta, on a slice of crusty bread, in a grilled cheese sandwich, whatever tickles your fancy! Pine nuts are great in this, but so are sunflower seeds, almonds, pistachios, and walnuts! Or leave out the nuts entirely! As always, the ingredients are most flexible depending on what you have on-hand.

Chimichurri

Chimichurri is a great sauce or marinade for many meats. It’s a nice alternative to pesto, and though it involves jalapeƱos, it’s very accessible on the spicy scale. This version makes a ton, so get ready to freeze some or pop it on everything you make throughout the week. Either way, it’s great stuff and I hope you think so too!
