The “Show” – Springdell Summer CSA pickup #7

Hi everyone!  Sarah and Jess here, bringing you the 7th share box of the summer season.  We are all doing a rain dance right now, it is so dry!  The combination of the dry and the crazy heat has brought the basil to flower.  There has been some concern that the basil may be bitter, but never fear, farmer Jamie has given it the thumbs up (as have the bloggers here at CSA365).  Go ahead and use that basil in a delicious way!  Let’s take a look at what we have to cook with this week:

  • 3 bell peppers
  • 12 butter and sugar corn
  • 4 slicing cucumbers
  • 2 stuffing squash
  • 2 wicked big summer squash
  • 4 squash bombs
  • 1 bag of wax beans
  • 2 tomato
  • 1 bunch of beets
  • 3 red Russian kale
  • 1 bunch genovese basil

  • 2 blueberries

  • 2 rainbow chard
  • 1 collard greens

Sad note at the farm to say about the stone fruit crop.  Keep your local farmers in your thoughts!

On a happier note, Springdell poultry harvest happened this week and there are still chickens available at the farm stand.  Swing on over and pick one up!

Have a great week everyone, stay cool!
