Burrito Bowls

Tons of Springdell love in a bowl, what gets better than that?

We made these for my husband’s birthday.  He loves building his food, it’s an experience for him.  This bowl was layers of fun, top it with some grilled steak and Happy Birthday Alex!

One of the excitements of spring comes for me in the form of the grill.  We aren’t people who grill all year long so when we pull out the grill in the Springtime I am almost giddy with the idea of playing with the grill for the next few months.  Tonight, our first night with the grill we weren’t playing games, we went straight for steak.

I brought that in and let it rest before slicing.  I chopped up some fresh veggies from the share.

It was time to build the burrito bowls.  We started by creating a layer of refried beans on the bottom of the bowl.

On top of that went some warm brown rice.

I chopped up one of the small heads of lettuce from the share this week and that was piled up next.

Next was fresh chopped tomato and a spoonful of sour cream.

Can it get any better?  Oh yes…fresh chopped cilanto and lime zest.

All of this is topped with the sliced grilled steak, perfection. Enjoy!
