The “Show” – Springdell Winter CSA Pickup #4

Hello everyone!  We hope you all got to the farm for the double pick up today.  Looks like we have some great items to cook with and enjoy for the coming weeks.  Winter Share #4 hilights meat products form Springdell!  This is pretty exciting as Jess and I use almost exclusively Sprigndell meat.  We have gotten to know a bunch of the different cuts of meat and how to cook them properly.  If you are unsure of these meats never fear!  We will be showing you some of the ways we use these different cuts so be sure to be checking back in for some great recipies.  For now let’s take a look at the share box #4:

  • High Lawn Farm Dairy Products (Jess received skim milk and heavy cream, Sarah received low fat and chocolate)
  • Beets
  • Onions
  • Eggs
  • Specialty lettuce from Johnny Putt Farm
  • Red skin Potatoes
  • Natures Wonder Bean Sprouts (Western MA)
  • Baby Spinach
  • Head lettuce
  • Mushrooms
  • Meat!  (Selections will vary, see below for what each of us have this pickup)

Jess received:

  • Ground pork
  • Ground Beef
  • Beef Top Round Steak
  • Sweet Italian Sausage
  • Boneless Beef Chuck Steak

Sarah received:

  • Beef London Broil
  • Beef Cube Steak
  • Ground beef
  • Ground pork
  • Sweet Itslian Sausage


On another note I’m sure the Christmas decorations are coming down if they haven’t already in your house.  Don’t forget to drop your trees off at the farm stand.  These trees become a treat for the animals!  So, instead of your typical throwing the tree out, bring it by the farm stand at any time, you will see a pile of trees that you can add to.  The animals will thank you!
